Outage in West Oxford : Repairs Underway - Update

Fiber Techs have hung new fiber to replace damaged section. The new fiber is currently being spliced to reconnect with existing fiber.

Fiber Techs have discovered the source of the fiber damage and located the affected section. Materials have been delievered to the site to begin replacing and repairing the damaged section. Affected customers have been found along the following roads:

We are investigating reports of several customers in the area of West Oxford being down. Early indications are that there is damage to fiber.

2023-01-04: Maintenance Complete

Maintenance was completed successfully without any interruptions or affecting subscriber services.

2023-01-04: Unscheduled Maintenance

Proactive monitoring has alerted us to some issues with the network between Headquaters -> West Oxford substations. To correct this issue, engineers will reconfigure hardware on the ring during the day with vendor support.

No service impacts are expected, however brief interruptions could occur during ring failover, which could possibly affect susbscribers fed from the following substations:

Headquarters (Northpointe area, Hwy 7 N, College Hill Switch area)
Sardis Lake (Old Sardis Road area, St. Andrews area, Lakeway Gardens, College Hill area)
West Oxford (Hwy 6 west, and north and south of Hwy 6 West)
Thacker (Eagle Point area, West Oxford Loop area)

We expect to begin work on 01/04/23 10:00am, and expect the duration of work to be about an hour. This site will be updated when maintenance is complete.

SUBSTATION OUTAGE: UPDATE 06:34am RESOLVED

Damaged equipment has been repaired. Services are operating normally.

SUBSTATION OUTAGE: UPDATE 05:29am

We were able to temporarily reroute power around the damaged equipment to get power back to the hut, however this is a temporary solution. The system is running on alternate battery power. When preparation is ready, we will take down the entire hut again to wire in the new equipment. Currently services are restored but be advised there will be an outage when equipment is replaced.

SUBSTATION OUTAGE: Repair In Progress

Due to storm damage, power systems have been damaged at West Oxford Substation resulting in the substation being offline for fiber subscribers. Backup and redundant systems are also damaged. Engineers and technicians from both the power and fiber sides are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Equipment will need to be replaced to restore power to the fiber equipment, and this is in progress. More updates as they are available.

West Oxford Substation Disruption : 3:53pm RESOLVED

After extended troubleshooting and engagement of NOC and Vendor TAC, the issue has been resolved and services restored. A not-before-seen hardware issue was identified and repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience.

West Oxford Substation Disruption : 3:00pm Investigating

We continue to work with our hardware vendors to resolve the issue. Investigating this issue has led to working with other sets of hardware not directly affected by the original issue. This has led to some service interruptions for Headquarters, Sardis Lake, and Thacker.

West Oxford Substation Disruption : 10:04am Investigating

We are working with our hardware vendor TAC to isolate the issue. As part of this process, we will be required to reload hardware in the Thacker Substation as well, which will affect members there for a brief period while the hardware restarts. PLANNED MAINTENANCE - NESPARC Core Network : Upcoming Maintenance

On Wednesday 12/22/2021 between 00:00 and 06:00am, Network Engineering will make some necessary configuration changes on our HQ core routers to optimize traffic flow. Due to the nature of the maintenance, there is a possibility of service interruptions when changes are committed, but these should be brief.
