Please remember as cleanup continues, PLEASE DO NOT PILE DEBRIS ON ANY WIRE OR CABLE, WHETHER IT IS TELCOM CABLE OR ELECTRIC CABLE. This delays restoration efforts. Please share this with anyone you can (neighbors, tree crews, city and county clean-up crews, etc)
Crews are working at the intersection of CR 377 and Hwy 7 to repair and re-splice a damaged cable. This will interupt services for some subscribers in this area while the cable is spliced.
We are continuing to reinforce service drop screw strength in order to more quickly address outages. Several times per day we utilize our systems to verify which subscribers are experiencing service interruptions, and deploy drop crews accordingly.
Mainline construction crews continue to work to rebuild and repair downed mainline feeders and laterals throughout our service area.
Please remember to treat ALL lines, whether electric or telecommunications, as ENERGIZED. Generators can back feed onto lines, or lines could be in contact with other energized lines.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate this natural disaster. Thanks for using NESPARC.

Three more crews were added today. Existing crews made big pushes all across the system repairing mainline. We continue to sweep the system with crews repairing lateral feeds and other mainline issues.
We also added more drop crews that are systematically repairing service drops across the system. As our network repairs proceed, our system allows us to see individual outages and we are using this to proactively visit individual outages.

More mainline construction arrived today to assist with restoration. All of the main transport trunks are fully operational and crews are working lateral feeds off of these main trucks to get as many subscribers restored as possible.
We continue to utilize resources to repair subscriber service drops as quickly as possible. More mutual aid crews are arriving to assist coop crews with this aspect of the restoration now that more ares are getting power restored and becoming safer to work.

At around 2:25pm today, crews will begin to splice the cable that was cut last night on Hwy 6. This will unfortunately interrupt services to all subscribers on the Lafayette Springs substation (Thaxton, Delay, Toccopola, Hurricane Hwy 6 E (east of the Sizzler), the east end of Toccopola Rd (Hwy 334) and those general areas). The the transport will be spliced first, restoring the majority of subscribers, and then the rest of the cable that will restore the subscribers west of Bethel Church Rd.
The mainline fiber on Old Taylor Road has been repaired and spliced, restoring our redundancy and restoring services to some subscribers in that area. Crews will be working to splice in the the lateral runs down roads and offshoots from Old Taylor Road.

UPDATE:
Fiber mainline repair is moving well through most subdivisions and communities. We are locating damaged cables, and when possible repairing as we go. This could cause some intermittent issues while new cable is pulled and splicing commences.
We have have four crews working steadily to repair the mainline down Old Taylor Road. This area suffered significant damage, with over 25 broken poles.

UPDATE: More progress is being made across the system to restore services to subscribers. As power is restored, crews are also processing and repairing service drops. We continue to concentrate on replacing damaged mainline cables to restore our SmartGrid infrastructure and also restore subscriber and transit services. Our primary and backup internet links are fully functional. Some internal on-network links are degraded or have reduced redundancy due to cable damage, but are not currently service-affecting.

UPDATE: One of our trunk lines that feeds Taylor substation was damaged on Old Taylor road due to the storm, including many broken poles. The redundant trunk was also damaged but still functioning, fffffffhowever it has been further damaged today before it was safe to repair, and caused us to lose comms to Taylor substation. We are working to address the issue and restore services to Taylor subscribers.

UPDATE: We are continuing to assess and repair damages caused by Winter Storm FERN. The storm caused massive damage to both the electric plant and the fiber plant. Our fiber plant carries some critical infrastructure necessary for power restoration. The main transport networks are high priority. We also have extra crews on-site working individual drop and service issues in tandem as it becomes safe for them to do so.
We realize many subscribers have generators and some are having power restored. We are working to restore as many services as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
There will also be situations where previously functioning services are lost due to damaged cables being moved, vehicles tearing down low lines, trees falling on lines due to cleanup, etc. We will work to address these issues as quickly as we can.
Please remember to treat ALL lines, whether electric or telecommunications, as ENERGIZED. Generators can back feed onto lines, or lines could be in contact with other energized lines.

MON Jan 26 2026 5:00 AM: Assessing
The Winter Weather event has obviously affected our entire service area. NE SPARC is working to ensure as much of our system as possible stays up during this disaster. The primary concern is safety for our members and employees. The electric crews are assessing the situation and working to restore power. We are working alongside them as we can.
Many subscribers could still have service, if they have power.
Our main objective, once we are able to access areas will be to repair main distribution paths and circuits. We do not have an ETR for restoration efforts at this time. We will work as quickly as possible when areas are safe.
Please remember to treat ALL lines, whether electric or telecommunications, as ENERGIZED. Generators can back feed onto lines, or lines could be in contact with other energized lines.
We will do our best to keep this site updated with any new information as it becomes available.
Thanks for using NESPARC.
